Breaking News! Okay, not really, but I am so excited to report to you all the the MakeUp Show is coming back to Orlando for its 5th year.
On March 18th and 19th (Saturday & Sunday), from 9am-5pm at the Hyatt Regency Orlando, 9801 International Drive. Tickets are available online and can be purchased at themakeupshow.com.
I attended the event last year and I learned so much (photos above). This year I plan to learn even more AND, of course, shop!
So here is just a taste of what to expect at the 2 day event:
New Features set to launch at The Makeup Show Orlando include:
- New brands: In addition to the 50+ top brands returning to The Makeup Show, Orlando will welcome several new brands including Limelight by Alcone, Blinc Inc., VAMP FX, Earthborn Solutions, Bioderma and MOO. All brands will be offering pro- discount rates up to 60% off!
- The Makeup Show Town Hall: One of the reasons The Makeup Show stands out from other shows is its commitment to education. In addition to the immensely popular keynotes and special topic forums, The Makeup Show Orlando will introduce The Makeup Show Town Hall. This keynote has been specifically designed to bring together attendees, artists and experts for the purpose of engaging in conversations about the latest developments and hot topics in the industry.
- Play Area: Makeup professionals often joke that they’re like kids in a candy store. Now, dreams are coming true for pros as they’re allowed to eat the candy before they buy it—sort of. With the introduction of The Makeup Show’s Play Area, pros can test and compare products, making a truly informed decision before adding new product to their kits.
- New Educational Opportunities: The Makeup Show Orlando will also introduce new workshops that can’t be missed, including James Vincent and Lori-Taylor Davis’ “Mastering Makeup Trend.” This workshop will teach makeup trends through color, texture and looks from the world of fashion.
If you’re a local make up artist and want to get in on the latest with some of the hottest in the industry, do not hesitate to put this on your calendar.
Speaking of local makeup artists, I wanted to highlight one of my favorites in the industry and she motivates me to want to learn more about my face. She is amazing at her craft and can create a look that will have people staring in amazement. I am talking about my dear friend, Eboni. She has been doing my make up for years and I am never disappointed. She does weddings, birthdays, photoshoots, or just because you want to slay…she is there!
I briefly interviewed Eboni to gain some insight about creating the perfect look. Read it all below:
What is your go to trick to turn a day time look to night time?
It’s pretty easy to transition from a daytime look to a bolder nighttime look by simply building on the base you already have. For more dramatic eyes, I would add black liner to my waterline and blend into the lower lash line. For even more drama, opt for mascara, an exaggerated winged liner and a great pair of lashes. To top the look off, incorporate lots of highlighter and a bold lip!
What advice can you give someone, like me, who is horrible at drawing eyeliner?
The best advice I would give someone who is horrible at drawing eyeliner — PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE! Start off by outlining the shape of liner you want and then filling it in. You can also purchase stencils which are awesome and they’ll definitely help with symmetry. Personally, I’d always recommend using a gel liner and angle brush as you would have more control when applying and are less likely to mess up.
What excites you about doing make up?
The overall transformation excites me. I’m all about enhancing beauty and not covering it up. Women want to still look like themselves, but just a little more polished.
If you could only bring 3 make up products with you on a trip what would they be?
My top 3 products:
- Bronzer/Contour Powder
What are some of your favorite drugstore products?
I really love e.l.f. cosmetics (brushes and makeup), I love NYX’s lip colors and Real Techniques’ brushes!
