Happy November in Orlando!! Where we get a week of nice weather and then it is back to the heat! LOL!
I am so happy that Halloween is over. I am probably among 2% of the world that really doesn’t care much about that time of the year. I never celebrated it as a kid and I never plan to celebrate it as an adult. I do, however, enjoy going downtown in Orlando and watching everyone else make a fool of themselves. People are very creative and spend lots of money on their costumes; I mean wow! Hats off to them; if I celebrated this day, I probably would go big too.
These upcoming months really are my favorite part of the year. I LOVE Thanksgiving and Christmas and when I lived up north, I really loved the changes of season. Fall was always so beautiful with the various colors on the trees and on the ground and then all of sudden everything was white! It really is a beautiful sight.
I grew up in Orlando, Florida – so things pretty much stayed the same. It was either sunny and hot or cloudy and rainy, but the grass is always green. So moving “up top” was a shock to my senses and I adjusted quite nicely – but back to living in Orlando.
Ever since I moved back, I think its been 6 years now, I have had the luxury of enjoying the nightlife that Orlando has to offer. I saw what it was like at 18 years old and then I saw it again in my mid 20s, and now in my 30s and I must say – the party scene is pretty consistent here. Orlando has no damn chill. It is constantly turn up central no matter where you go. I used to love it! You can drive down Orange Avenue and go to Wall Street pretty much any night of the week and have a good time. I promise.
However, in my 30s, I am now looking for a more chill vibe. I don’t always want to turn up and get crazy. It actually takes me longer to get myself together the next day, if I drink too much the night before. I used to sleep it off for like 4 hours in my 20s and be fine the next day. I could go to work and you would never even know I was out shaking it the night before. But things change in your 30s and the body does not appreciate the feeling of 4 hours of sleep after a night of throwing them back. I need Orlando to chill. LOL
Okay, maybe I should practice more self-control, but whatever. That is beside the point.
Luckily, my city is evolving and becoming more hip and chill. I love watching the changes that are being made. It makes me proud to say that I am from here. Matter of fact, a new spot that I discovered is called West Art District. Sort of like Wynwood in Miami, but this is OUR Wynwood Orlando and we better take care of it. I would absolutely love to host Art Basel here one year and I know we could do it. This is O-Town! We host so many other events and our turn up sort of matches Miami (sort of). I hope that West Art District continues to grow and become more known so that artists from all over will come and share their creativity with us. Last weekend, I went by and met a couple of artists and took some awesome photos. I have found my chill in Orlando.
