This is the time of the year when everyone is packed into the gym and trying their best to keep that New Year’s resolution. Until recently, I had no desire to eat healthy or workout. I used to be one of those people that would say they will start working out, but never actually do it. So kudos to the people who at least start the process.
A few months ago, I was experiencing an onset of constant headaches. I normally get migraines and I know how to handle them, but these headaches felt different and they were always in the same spot of my head. So after a week of dealing with these mysterious headaches on my own and visiting the nurse practitioner at my job, he sent me to the ER. While at the ER, I had a CAT scan done and they found a small tumor on my brain. They could not tell me much, but the size did not alarm them.
A few weeks later, I found myself sitting at the UF Health Neurology office, waiting on Dr. Marshall Cress. He is one of the top neurosurgeons in the Orlando area. He reviewed my results with me and I was stunned. I have a benign/calcified tumor on my brain. Nothing serious, unless I get pregnant – then it has the potential to grow. Never did I imagine that my brain can affect whether or not, I could have a successful pregnancy.
So to answer the question that most of you have been asking me…No, I do not have cancer. Praise God! But if I chose to get pregnant, I will have to be extremely careful.
I was also given news by my primary doctor, that I need to go on a no carb and no sugar diet, otherwise I am at risk of diabetes!!! What?! That is the hardest thing I think I will ever have to do. The moral of the story is this… be sure to take care of your bodies while you are young. Because all of that crap catches up to you the older you get. It is important to know your body and to be able to tell when something is not right.
So now…I am saying to you… in writing that I am starting my workout plan on Monday (I have a personal trainer) and I will be eating healthy. You are all now my accountability partners.
Creating new healthy habits is the name of the game this year. But first I need to find some new workout gear – I mean what better way to motivate yourself to workout than some fresh gear??
Below are some of my favorite pieces:
