The past couple of weeks have been rough. I cannot even begin to explain to you guys what has happened to me. This life changing event has caused me so much stress. I mean never, in a million years, did I think my right hand would leave me without a warning. I am talking about my MacBook Pro. It died ya’ll!! I mean just stopped working! My whole life was on that thing; luckily I always backed it up on an external hard drive.
But I had to wait two whole weeks for my renters insurance to replace it for me. I was so stressed during that time without my life line. I could not blog, do school work, or shop online. People say, “oh just use your iPhone..”, but NO! The iPhone screen is too small for online shopping. I need the full effect.
Any who…I digress. This was NOT really that stressful, but I know that life can throw you unexpected curveballs. As a human being it can be difficult to control our emotions and we end up stressing over nothing. Below are 5 ways I like to de-stress. I actually did all 5 of these during this tumultuous time in my life.
Five Ways to De-stress and Get Back to Life
Sunlight and exercise can help alleviate any stress you may be feeling. Vitamin D can be good if you are experiencing feelings of depression. Getting up off the couch and moving your body can with a light jog or walk can improve a bad mood and allow you to clear your head. Take the time to focus on the positive things outside. If you live by a lake, enjoy the beauty of nature. If you are in a busy city, enjoy the sights and take in the diversity of the people around you.
Repeat Positive Affirmations
Saying positive quotes or words out loud to yourself, with confidence, on a daily basis. Repeat them until you start to feel better about whatever is bothering you. Some great affirmations to say are:
“My thoughts are filled with positivity and my life is plentiful with prosperity.”
“I acknowledge my own self-worth; my confidence is soaring.”
“Everything that is happening now is happening for my ultimate good.”
Phone a Friend
Sometimes the things we are stressing about are not that BIG. We tend to make things up in our heads and it causes us to stress even more. I always tell myself to “stay out of your head”! We can be our own worst enemy. So talking it out with a friend might help you clear your head OR your friend may present a solution you did not think of.
Write down what is going on in your life and then write down what you would like the solution to be. Perhaps even write the steps you should take to get that desired outcome. It may not change anything, but writing down whatever is stressing you will help take it off your mind. Trust me!
If you believe in a higher power, then I highly recommend that you pray. If something is bothering you, the first thing you should do is pray. It’s ok to take some time for yourself. Go into your closet, grab your Bible, and talk to God. He is there to help you and most importantly, He wants to help you.
